Our manufacturers

We have visited most of our manufacturing sites, and we just love to see how proud and skilled the staff is. A lot of the nescessary knowledge is passed on through generations. Yes, whole families are often working together on the small plants in Scotland and England. Most of the machinery is very old, and some are even controlled with 3,5" floppy discs! Old but durable technology.

Materials

Tweed is a labor intensive and natural cloth, that provides jobs in rural areas. Tweed is based mostly on wool as a raw material, which is often harvested from sheep in remote areas. The tweed weaving machines are old, and cannot be replaced, and are kept and maintained by skilled craftsmen, with knowhow being passed on for generations. 

Good quality knitwear undergoes many processes, and it is very impressing to witness how specialized craftsmen and -women work with the yarn and old machines to make beautiful knitwear.
